Operating system for engineering teams

Stop paying for six tools to ship one sprint.

The average Series A–C engineering team burns $47 per engineer per month on a stack that wasn't designed to work together: Jira for tickets, Trello for kanban, Notion for docs, Loom for async updates, Slack threads for status, and weekly standups nobody prepared for. Zilzul collapses that stack into a single velocity-first workspace — at a line item your CFO can read in fifteen seconds.

First sprint board is live in eleven minutes. Median onboarding across 3,400+ teams.

  • Complements Jira. Doesn't try to kill it.
  • SOC 2 Type II, GDPR, zero audit exceptions.
  • Open-source SDKs in TypeScript, Python, Go.

Procurement, security, finance

Answers to the questions your finance and security teams will ask before signing.

  1. Do I need a credit card to start the 14-day sprint?

No. Work email is the only field. We send a single reminder seven days before the trial ends, then a final nudge the morning of. If you do nothing, the workspace freezes at read-only and your data is exportable as JSON or CSV for 90 days. No surprise charges — we've turned off auto-conversion entirely since 2022.

  2. What counts as a billable user?

Anyone who creates, comments on, or transitions a ticket in a 30-day window. View-only stakeholders — PMs, designers, execs reading dashboards — are free, unlimited, and don't count toward your seat count. If an engineer goes on parental leave for two months, they're not billed for those two months. We auto-reconcile monthly.

  3. How does migration from Jira actually work?

Bi-directional sync from day one, not a one-shot import. Your existing Jira instance keeps running — we layer Zilzul on top, so engineers can adopt one squad at a time. We migrate epics, stories, custom fields, sprints, and comments with field-history preserved. Median full migration across our 2024 cohort: 3.4 days for a 50-engineer org, with zero downtime.

  4. Annual or monthly billing? What if we outgrow the tier mid-year?

Both, with annual saving 18%. Mid-year upgrades are prorated to the day; downgrades take effect at renewal so finance doesn't have to issue credits. We send a 60-day renewal reminder with an honest usage report so the renewal conversation isn't a surprise. 142% net revenue retention, bootstrapped to profitability in 14 months — we're not chasing your upsell.

  5. SOC 2, GDPR, SSO — what do you have ready for our security review?

SOC 2 Type II (audited by Drata, zero exceptions in 2023), GDPR-compliant with a signed DPA on day one, SAML SSO and SCIM provisioning on the Team tier. A redacted SOC 2 report is shared on the first sales call under NDA. HIPAA and FedRAMP are not currently in scope — we'll be transparent about that rather than oversell.

  6. Can we self-host or pin data residency to the EU?

On the Enterprise tier, yes. US, EU (Frankfurt), and AU (Sydney) regions available at contract signing, with data never leaving the chosen region at rest or in transit. Fully self-hosted Kubernetes evaluation is available for engineering teams that require it; talk to us about a 90-day proof-of-value.
